Brisbane with Kids

From an educational fun to a day in the park the “River City” has a range of kid friendly activities available.

Educational fun!

If your child is a budding astronomer then The Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium is for you! Located just outside the city centre in the beautiful Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens is the Planetarium is home to the Cosmic Skydome, a 12.5-metre-diametere projection dome.  With two different presentation options available to suit your child; from three to six we recommend Tycho to the Moon and for the older kids the Perfect Little Planet.

Just a short drive down the freeway from the Planetarium you will find the Lone Pine Koala sanctuary.  One of Brisbane’s top destinations! Lone Pine is the world’s first and largest koala sanctuary home to over 130 koalas.

Day in the Park!

Brisbane boasts beautiful parklands with two of the best close to Novotel: Roma Street Parklands and South Bank. The Roma St Parklands hosts a range of activities for your little one to enjoy; nestled in the inner-city suburb of Spring Hill only 1.2km walk from the Novotel. The best way to see this amazing park is to jump aboard the Parkland Explorer, a trackless train. With everything from two playgrounds to an amphitheatre you can guarantee a day of fun.

Sitting across the river is Brisbane’s South Bank 17 hectares of parklands and has become a “must do” destination.  The Parklands offer a range of activities from taking a dip in the man-made beach to exploring the community garden. On Saturdays from 3pm South Bank is one of the hosts of city sounds Australia’s largest free live music program.

South Bank is also home to the best of Brisbane’s arts and entertainment. Sitting at the north end of the parklands is the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Queensland ArtGallery and Gallery of Modern Art.  If you are after scientific fun there is the Queensland Museum and Sciencentre.

Have Fun!
