A day in Brisbane City

Winter is here and as much as we would all love to sit inside and stay in bed all day (which is an option of course), most of us like to get out and see the city. Visiting Brisbane for the first time or simply stuck for ideas on how to spend your day? We have a few suggestions for you that do not require any taxi’s or public transport from the hotel.

Start your morning with a full buffet breakfast at the hotel or head over to Two Donkeys, Spring Hills newest café featuring Gold Coast Blackboard coffee, Crust & Co pastry and mouth-watering breakfast dishes, perfect for winter. You can check out the menu here. After filling up on delicious local produce and caffeine take a stroll down to Queen Street Mall, a vibrant shopping and lifestyle precinct filled with over 700 retailers and a variety of cafes, bars and restaurants. For more information on upcoming events in Queen Street Mall click here

Feeling peckish after a long morning of shopping? Eagle Street Pier is the place to be for a long lunch overlooking the river. The pier is well known for its award winning restaurants and popular entertainment hotspots.

Take a stroll along the pier all the way to the Brisbane City Botanical Gardens, the city’s oldest park. Enjoy a free guided walk lead by friendly volunteers from Monday to Saturday from 11am to 1pm. The walks take one hour and start from the Alice Street Main Entrance.

If the weather isn’t so good check out a movie at Event Cinemas in the Myer Centre or go bowling at Strike Bowling bar. Home to 12 bowling lanes, laser-tag, pool tables, Exitus escape rooms and private karaoke rooms, Strike Bowling is the perfect way to entertain the kids or group of friends.

For the perfect end to the day head back to the hotel and enjoy a cocktail, spirit, wine or beer at the bar with live music Tuesday to Friday. Enjoy dinner at the hotel restaurant and expect to taste the freshest produce amongst our chef’s creative and innovative dishes from the menu.
