Royal Queensland Exhibition

Also called EKKA, the Royal Queensland Exhibition is an annual August event that brings everyone together from the 5-14th of August for 10 days of fun, festivities, competitions and excitement. Beginning in 1876 the show has evolved to reflect Brisbane and Queensland culture. Attendees can visit with over 10,000 animals, snack on tasty carnival treats, listen to live music and experience thrills with adrenaline-pumping carnival rides. Located at the Brisbane Showgrounds in Bowen Hills just a short train journey from the Novotel. If you are planning to visit from interstate check out these accomodation options

For the little ones:

From the RACQ animal nursery to the Sideshow Alley there is fun galore to keep the kids entertained. Indulge the children with some iconic Ekka treats such as the Bertie Beetle show bag and the strawberry sundaes. Finish the day off with a bang, stay for the spectacular fireworks display.

Attention foodies! Get ready to enjoy a day of great food and amazing experiences, from the classic Ekka favourites such as the Dagwood dog to gourmet pizzas. You can get into the Aussie spirit by making your way to the Cattleman’s bar for the full country feel, serving Queensland favourite foods and drinks.
